Welcome to Risingmist...

Welcome to our web site where you can find out a bit about us and our dogs.

We run our own Property Maintenance and Landscaping business, which means I am lucky enough to work from home organising the office admin side, while my husband, has to put in the hard graft!

My husband comes from a mixed  farming background, where he regularly exhibited cattle at The Royal Show held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.

I have studied and continue to study canine psychology and behaviour modification to a professional level.  Our ethos in all we do with our own dogs, is to be as naturally savvy as possible.  I have also completed the theory dog training courses, to back up what we do practically.  We have completed and passed the Microchipping course, so we now offer this as an additional service, please see the Microchipping page.  Next on our agenda is a canine First Aid course.

We live in the heart of Warwickshire, Shakespear's county. We have two children aged 4 and 1 years, so our dogs are used to being pulled around and love nothing more than rolling on the floor with our daughter.  It is a very busy household and we are an active family.  We live in a busy village which gives our dogs the chance to be socialised with cars and lots of people, the beautiful South Warwickshire country side surrounds us.

We have been owned by working cockers for 11 years now.  It all started with  Pippa and Woody.  We have both always had dogs in our lives, my husband Border Collies and my self a varied mix from Pekingese, Yorkshire Terriers, Golden Retrievers and German Shepards, which we kept and bred for the Police.

We soon came to realise what genuine little dogs the working cockers are and have been hooked ever since.

As they are so perfect with the children, it is not difficult to see why we became passionate about these happy go lucky little dogs.

All our dogs are first and foremost much loved family pets who live in the house with us!!!  As such any puppies we have, are bred with the utmost care with no expense spared.  We do not run a business breeding dogs. We are strictly breed enthusiasts, hobby breeders, which means we only have litters occasionally and we do not expect the dogs to pay for themselves.

Our dogs have a walk with the children and the pushchair everyday.  We also take them to new ground regularly to keep them on their toes!!! Not to mention daily training.

When we have time our great passion is walking, usually Geocaching and we are always accompanied by our children and our dogs.  We also do a bit of flyball.  There are so many past times to be enjoyed with these wonderfully adaptable little dogs.

We are not very competitive so do not compete in field trials with our dogs.  We enjoy to do scurrying with them at local game fairs.  My husband always has a dog with him when beating, I hope to have a day or two out too and we are training Fern to work with a Hawk.  We are well endowed with rabbits for rough shooting. My husband has also set up our own rabbit pen and  practice scurrying runs, which include the river as well as having plenty of room to play/train with dummies, this is on separte ground to our family home.

All in all our dogs have an active life with the luxury of being able to curl up on the sofa in the evening!
